RE/MAX A1 agent becomes a Queen’s Baton Bearer

In a country of over 24 million, to be one of 3,800 Australians in the Queen’s Baton Relay at the 2018 Commonwealth Games is something to be immensely proud of. For the RE/MAX Australia team, seeing one of their own take centre stage was something special.

Taking on the final stretch of the Ipswich relay on the 29th March, RE/MAX A1’s Pushpa Ajay Bakshi led the Queen’s baton into a community celebration held at Limestone Park, which she says was a dream come true.

“It was a heartfelt and emotional journey and I enjoyed every second it,” said Ms Bakshi.

“All the organisers, the staff, the police and of course the public were fabulous. It was an amazing experience.”

Her participation in the relay was only the beginning of her involvement in the 2018 Commonwealth Games. Along with husband Ajay, Ms Bakshi will be volunteering on the Gold Coast to assist with press operations during the games, assisting athletes and coaches through the event’s media operations.

Ms Bakshi will also be competing in the Games’ ‘Gold Run’, a 5km fun run held on a stretch of the games marathon course after the closing ceremony.

Originally from the UK, Ms Bakshi has called Australia home since 2006. Having visited Ipswich for the first time ten years ago, she eventually returned to make the city her home in later years, purchasing RE/MAX A1 Ipswich with husband in 2015.

An active member of the community, Ms Bakshi is part of a number of both professional and community groups outside of her role with RE/MAX A1.

Ms Bakshi has been a part of professional groups in the UK and Australia for over 30 years and is currently in a number of valuable roles with the local community. A life and business coach, she also holds positions as a Rotarian, Senior-Vice President of Ipswich Chamber of Commerce, Member of the Australian Institute of Directors, Professional Fellow Accountant, Senior Tax Auditor, Master Neuro Strategist and as a Senior Leader for the Anthony Robbins Group.

Ms Bakshi has also been involved in many community projects including the Global Women’s Council, various Business Councils, Zonta, African Association, and The Multi-Cultural Association, as well as mentoring both CEOs and students alike.

While discussing her involvement in the community and professional sectors, it’s hard not to be inspired and encouraged by Ms Bakshi’s enthusiasm and love for what she does.

On International Women’s day this year, Mrs Bakshi was recognised at the Queensland Women in Leadership Awards for her outstanding work, resilience and leadership skills, adding to numerous accolades. She was an Entrepreneurial and Innovative Leader finalist.

“I find it difficult to put into words, how happy and contented I feel by supporting our community,” she said.

RE/MAX Australia have something in common with the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games, both are celebrating their 21st anniversary this year and for the RE/MAX family, seeing one their own participating in the event makes it all the more special.
