PPM Conference Celebrates it’s 15th year

The PPM National Conference will draw Property Managers and Principals from all around the country to Queensland’s Gold Coast on the 18th and 19th of June to “Motivate. Educate. Inspire.”

The conference in its 15th year incorporates the ‘Best of the Best’ PPM National Property Management Awards and a fantastic bill of speakers including Amy Sanderson, Katie Knight, John Knight, Director of Business Depot, and the Director of PPM Group, Debbie Palmer.

John Knight gave us a small preview about why property management and property management training ought to be a strategic priority for real estate businesses.

“Nothing is surer than the economy going up and down in different economic cycles,” says Knight. “Yes, in positive market principals can make good money from the sales division but without a rent roll to support them through the tough times it may be very short lived.”

“If you are not growing, you are going backwards – how many properties did you lose last month through no fault of your own or your team? If you do not have a growth focus your total value can easily go backwards causing different pressures.”

Growth, however, has long been touted as the solution to all ills of property management, but with the growth of the rent roll, can come the growth of issues associated with it – which is why finding out how to grow in the right way and at the right time is important.

John says, “… building a big rent roll and having no one to transfer it to can create different headaches. Grow the asset for security and personal wealth. Focus on succession well and truly in advance though so you can sleep at night knowing you have a plan to maximise the value you realise from your exit over time.”

Events like the PPM National Conference bring together insights from experts and some superb advice from the experts. Yet, says conference MC Malcom Riley much of the value of a national conference lies in the networking and relationships built between delegates and understanding how the best of the best, including the award winners, achieve the results they do with property management. “The event is an opportunity for peers to exchange ideas on a national platform and to really understand how property management can be a profitable and rewarding part of a real estate business.”
