The Laing family move to The Agency after 23 years with Raine & Horne

Real estate group The Agency have brought on board one of Sydney’s most longstanding businesses.

The Laing family has been in real estate for 59 years, trading as Raine & Horne for 23 years. The offices in Bondi Junction and Coogee/Clovelly will be rebranded as The Agency.

“When the opportunity arose to join The Agency, it was an extremely difficult decision to make for Geoff, Michael and I, considering our long-term personal and business relationships,” Tony Laing said.

“But in the end, it provided us with a new and exciting opportunity for our business.”

Brothers Tony, Geoff and Michael have major institutional, commercial and residential clients as well as one of the largest rent tolls across the Eastern Suburbs.

Tony Laing has consistently ranked in Raine & Horne’s top ten sales agents nationally and Michael Laing’s commercial operation holds a significant market share within the region. A large part of the success of the business is owed to Geoff Laing’s administration management and client consultation.

“The Laing family has built one of the highest reputations in the real estate industry within Australia,” said Matt Lahood, CEO The Agency.

“We are honoured they have decided to become part of The Agency business. The values, ethics and morals of the Laing family, and the business’ legacy over the last 59 years, have gained them a standing beyond reproach.

“The Laing family’s integrity and business acumen has set the bar very high,” Mr Lahood said.

Along with their 40 staff, the Laings will continue their key roles within The Agency’s Sydney operation. Tony Laing will maintain his role in sales and overseeing the residential property management. Geoff Laing will continue his commercial and general management role, while Michael Laing will be heading up The Agency’s commercial sales and leasing division.

“Michael’s commercial knowledge is second to none. The complexity of leasing and the technical knowledge he brings to commercial projects is market leading,” Geoff Laing said.

Michael Laing will work closely with The Agency Projects division, which since February this year has already brought $2 billion in new developments to the marketplace, and the new commercial arm.

“With an extensive array of new project settlements across the Eastern Seaboard and Sydney’s CBD, we are comforted by the professionalism and elite service the Laing family will provide for our valued clients,” Steven Chen, Executive Director Projects, said.

The offices at 167 Arden St, Coogee and 17 Spring St, Bondi Junction will be rebranded soon.
