Former AFL player makes mark on new field at Ray White

Ray White is excited to welcome former AFL player Jamie Charman to its winning team.

The towering former ruckman with the Brisbane Lions has joined Ray White principals David Treloar and Dwight Ferguson as a sales agent in their Albion office.

“I actually worked for Ray White Corporate part-time while I was still playing, so it feels so right to come back to this great brand — it’s a household name,” said the 35-year-old Mr Charman.

“I’ve always been passionate about residential property, and have bought and sold through Ray White many times.”

Mr Charman, a northside product, who went to Nudgee College and lived throughout the northern suburbs when he was playing professional AFL for 11 years until the end of 2011.

“I grew up in Sandgate and Bracken Ridge and I have always had a strong connection to the northside. I grew up playing for Sandgate Hawks from Under 7s and was drafted from the Northern Eagles at Zillmere,” he said.

After he hung up his footy boots at the end of the 2011 season, Mr Charman became the commercial manager for the Brisbane Lions until 2016. In the last two years, he’s been working with a commercial property company in the inner city.

“During my professional and footballing career, I always bought and sold property and did my own small developments so property has always been a passion of mine and I’m looking forward to helping people in this exciting field full time,” Mr Charman said.

“For me, the move into real estate is not a huge leap but I am really excited by what the future holds.”

“I know what the auction process feels like for both the vendor and the buyer. I have been on both sides, so I have a good understanding and empathy for anyone going through this process.

“I know it’s a stressful time for many buyers and the property market can sometimes be difficult to navigate — I am here to guide people through the process with how I’d like to be treated as a vendor or buyer. I believe integrity is a major part of it from both sides”

Mr Charman brings his enthusiasm and professionalism to his new sales role but he has ambitions of opening his own business too.

“I’ll make no secret of the fact I want to learn from the best in the industry and then open my own office. I truly understand what buyers and sellers go through and I’m looking forward to bringing that knowledge and understanding to my clients so I can offer a truly personalised end-to-end service,” Mr Charman said.
