Home formerly owned by late Aussie businessman Rene Rivkin up for sale

A Hawkesbury River-fronted property built by the late Australian entrepreneur Rene Rivkin 20 years ago, and extensively renovated by the current owner, will go to auction with price expectations above $5 million.

Built with whole Australian Cypress logs grown in NSW, the property sits on 10 acres which it shares with Sentry Rock, the landmark believed to be used by Captain Arthur Phillip as he explored the Hawkesbury in the 1700s.

Ray White Windsor Principal, Peter Chidgey who is marketing the property was the current owners were selling the house to move back into another bigger home they own since 1969 which is also located by the river.

“The owners have transformed the three bedroom house into a six bedroom masterpiece that includes features you couldn’t find anywhere else. I’ve honestly never seen anything like it before and there is nothing that comes even close to it on the market today,” he said.

Permanent residents of the area, the current owners purchased the property five years ago. They started with a renovation of the original residence that respected and further highlighted the property’s unique style.

“The owners added an additional wing to the property that features three bedrooms, including the new master suite, a downstairs living area that incorporates an enormous fireplace, wine cellar, a custom-built electronic sliding window they were told ‘couldn’t be done’, and a spiral staircase carved into the rock that takes you down to a jacuzzi area,” Chidgey said.

The gardens include a lily pond and the famed Sentry Rock, along with sprawling lawns, a man-made cascading waterfall, a World War II munitions barge on the river used for mooring boats and an outdoor entertaining area right on the river.

“The property is at one with its natural surroundings, nestled on 10 acres of land with extensive landscaping. It has deep water frontage and 360-degree views. The owners have planted Australian natives to complement those plants that already grew in the area.

“Rivkin installed the barge to moor his boat, but the new owners often use it to eat dinner and take in the view on summer evenings. A deep trench was recently dug to allow for bigger boats to dock at the barge,” Chidgey explained.

The property is situated at 5501 Wisemans Ferry Road, Spencer is launching to market as a forthcoming auction.
