Domain Launches App for Tracking Property Value

After launching the Home Price Guide in August, property website Domain.com.au today launched a new feature, Track My Home, which allows property owners to update the details of their home, and receive an updated property value estimate.

Domain’s Home Price Guide provides homebuyers, sellers and renters with the estimated value, history, photos and other details of 13 million properties in Australia. Powered by Australian Property Monitors, the app currently calculates an estimated price based on a range of available data including the most recent sale date for the property and the available data on neighbouring property sales. Its newest feature, Track My Home, means owners can update the details of their property – including recent renovations, extensions and refreshes – to receive an updated property value estimate.

Previously kept in proprietary systems and available only for purchase, Domain’s Home Price Guide aims to arm property seekers with the most up-to-date information available, so as to make the most informed property decisions – at no cost.

Chief Product Officer of Domain, Damon Pezaro, says that the newest feature, Track My Home, will increase the accuracy of the information available to property seekers.

“When it comes to property value estimates, the data from recent sales, neighbouring properties and similar properties in the area can only tell us so much. Who knows their property better that than the property owners themselves? By combining owner information with the Australian Property Monitors data, Track My Home makes it easy for property owners monitor the value of their home, so they know when it’s a good time to sell.

“We are continuing to change how Australians research property. In additional to the maps, images, school zone information and property sales history, Track My Home aims to increase the transparency around Australian property for our users. They can research both on-market and off-market properties with the confidence that the information available via Home Price Guide is the most accurate,” says Pezaro.

First Home Buyer Cecilia says using the price valuations and information available through Home Price Guide has simplified her research and search for a property.

“Having access to the up to date property information allows us, as buyers, to make decisions about whether or not to pursue an interest in a property. The lack of transparency previously meant that is was difficult – especially as an interstate buyer – to find an accurate estimation about the potential value of the home.

“Using Domain’s Home Price Guide means that I no longer have to go to multiple websites – council homepages, My Schools, Google Maps – to compile my research. Along with accurate price estimations, the fact that I can find all of the sales history and community information in one place, has saved me a great deal of time,” says Cecilia.

Home Price Guide is available by downloading or updating Domain’s iOS app in the Apple App store, or Android app in the Google Play store. It is available on the Domain website at: Domain.com.au/property-profile/.
